Psalm 102: Do not hide Your Face from me
v.17
What the author needs
hear my prayer
incline Your Ear to me
let my cry come to You
do not hide Your face from me in the day of my distress
answer me speedily in the day when I call
take me not away in the midst of my days
What the author experienced
in the day of my distress
my days pass away like smoke
my days are like evening shadows
I wither away like grass
my bones burn like furnance
my heart is struck down like grass and has withered
I forget to eat my bread
I eat ashes like bread
mingle tears with my drink
because of God's indignation and anger
my loud groaning
I am like a desert owl of the wilderness / waste places
like an owl of waste places
like a lonely sparrow on the housetop
my enemies taunt me all the day
those who deride me use his name as a curse
have been taken up and thrown down
HE has broken my strength in midcourse
HE has shortened my days
What the author believe about God
contrast with the limited days of author
Lord is enthroned forever
YOU are remembered throughout all generations
YOU will remain
YOU are the same
Your years have no end
Your years endure throughout all generations
Actions from God
Where: YOU will arise and have pity on Zion
When: It's the time to favor her
the appointed time has come
Who & What: Your Servants hold her stones dear
Consequence: Nations will fear the name of the Lord
the kings of the earth will fear Your glory
reason: the Lord builds up Zion
he appears in His glory
he regards the prayer of the destitute
does not despise their prayer
What: HE looked down from HIS holy height
looked down from heaven at the earth
What: to hear the groans of the prisoners
What: to set free those who are doomed to die
Consequence: they may declare the name of the Lord
Consequence: peoples gather together to worship HIM
What: YOU laid the foundation of the earth;
the heavens are the work of Your hands
What author promote to do
for future
let it be recorded for a generation to come
so a people yet to be created may praise the Lord
the children of Your servant dwell secure
their offspring shall be established before YOU
enemies
They will perish
they will wear out like a garment
YOU will change them like a robe
they will pass away
