Wu-hsing, or Five Elements is a map that encompasses the universe, nature, ourselves, and is a diagnostic system (Pachuta, 1991). Diagnostic in that it includes using color, sound, emotion, smell, pulses of the wrist, and dreams to diagnose imbalances (Pachuta, 1991). the elements include wood, fire, earth, metal, and water that correspond to the liver, heart, spleen, lungs, and kidneys (Schiffeler, 1976).
