What Is It
-
RESTful is one of the most commonly used API design types today to let different applications (web, mobile ...) communicate with each other.
The most important function of REST is to specify how to use HTTP methods (such as GET, POST, PUT, DELETE ...) and how to format URLs for web applications to manage resources.
RESTful does not dictate code logic and is not limited by the application programming language, any language or framework can be used to design a RESTful API.
How Does It Work
-
These methods or operations are often referred to as CRUDs, which correspond to Create, Read, Update, and Delete

API
API is the acronym for Application Programming Interface, which is a software intermediary that allows two applications to talk to each other
-
When you use an application on your mobile phone, the application connects to the Internet and sends data to a server. The server then retrieves that data, interprets it, performs the necessary actions and sends it back to your phone. The application then interprets that data and presents you with the information you wanted in a readable way. This is what an API is - all of this happens via API.
More recently, the modern API has taken on some characteristics that make them extraordinarily valuable and useful
