Respiratory - Restrictive / Obstructive Lung Diseases
*PFTs
- obstructive vs. restrictive
*Restrictive Lung Diseases
- Interstitial Pulmonary Fibrosis
- causes by aveolar cytokine releaase and fibrosis from fribroblasts
- note that all broncioles are surrounded by alveoli
--> increase fibrosis increases the lung recoil and pulls the bronchioles out wider
--> RADIAL TRACTION

Notes:
- note that
Clinical Case
ILD = Interstitial Lung Disease
Notes:
- most interstitial lung diseases have no known cause --> IPF = Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis
- always have to rule out medication-caused ILD caused by 4 main medications
--> bleomycin (Abx)
--> notrofurantoin (Abx for bladder infections)
--> methotrexate (RA)
--> amiodarone (CCB for CCF) - other notable causes of ILD are environmental exposures:
--> bird fancier's lung = pigeons
--> asbestos exposure
--> silicon exposure
Case example:
IPF (Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis)
Notes:
- most common form of ILD = Interstitial Lung Disease
*IPF = Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis
most common form of interstitial lung disease
IPF = Fibrosis in IPF is from PERFECTLY DONE FOOD from TGIF Bar and Grill = PLATE of FRIES and VEG
- PERFECTLY DONE FOOD = perfenidone is a TGF - beta antagonist
- TGIF Bar and Grill = TGF-beta
--> TGF-beta = transforming growth factor - PLATE = PGF = platelet growth factor
- FRIES = fibroblast growth factor
- VEG = vascular endothelial growth factor
*Obstructive Lung Diseases
- asthma and COPD
