-Take pill at same time every day
-Be aware of all medications taken to prevent changing the the way anticoagulant works in body
-Be alert for any S/S of nose bleeding, bleeding gums, red or brown urine, red or black stools, cuts that don't stop bleeding or feeling dizzy or fainting
-Avoid sports and activities that can cause falls, cuts, or bruises
-Use soft bristle tooth brush
-Educate not to use alcohol, tobacco or illegal drugs
-Educate to communicate to MD if planning on becoming pregnant
