Treaty of versailles.
World War I officially ended with the signing of the Treaty of Versailles on June 28, 1919.
The German government signed the treaty under protest. Right-wing German parties attacked it as a betrayal, and terrorists assassinated several politicians whom they considered responsible. This particular fact hit home hard with the fact germany was not the main contributor to the start of WW1.
The Treaty of Versailles was signed between the Allies (Britain, France and the USA) and Germany, at the palace of Versailles in France.
The territorial losses amounted to approximately 13.5% of Germany’s befor WW1 territory and around 7 million of its citizens.
Although Britain and the USA felt the terms of the treaty to be very harsh, France was not having any of it, due to the fact they had the most land damage and casualties. therefor they wanted higher reformations.
germany would have to pay 132 billion gold marks (currency) in reparations to countries, which had been damaged by the germans.

The German army was to be restricted to 100,000 men, there was to be no conscription, no tanks or heavy artillery and no general staff.
The German navy was restricted to 15,000 men and no submarines, while the fleet was limited to six battleships, six cruisers and 12 destroyers. But in spite germany decided to sink all of them anyway!
The rhineland was demilitarized. this meant anything that relates to the army was not allowed within 30 miles of the rhineland.

Woodrow wilson wanted the best outcome for germany whereas frances georges clemenceau wanted germany dealt with as harsh as possible. England was the middle ground. they felt strongly about both sides. the way i see it is like the worlds most dangerous game of piggy in the middle!
