The A.C.W was a war, between the US(northern states) against the Confederate States(southern states). It took place in the south of the US, from 1861 to 1865. In 1860, Lincoln was elected president and he supported the idea of banning slavery in all US territory. The southern states saw this as a violation of their rights. Secession was the only option to preserve the slavery system, as the southern states were much less urbanised and industrialised than northern ones, their agriculture plantation was based on slave labor.
