Social Pressure and How it Affects Students

Experimental Design
Have a group of 5-10 kids told they are being brought in for evaluation.
Have only one student out of the group a younger age with no personal connection to any of the other students.
Sound a bell in the room and have all older students stand every time the bell sounds.
See if younger student begins to stand as well.
If younger student begins to stand, begin sending students out of the room, until the youngest is the last standing
Determine if student begins to stand.
Essential Questions
Are today’s generation more easily influenced by others gestures?
Are younger kids?
Are older kids?
Data Collection
If both trials prove that the older subject and younger subject stand, then we could assume that our generation is easily influenced by the gestures of others
If only the younger group of subjects stands then it could be determined that the younger are more easily influenced.
If only the older group stands, then it could be determined that the older generation is more easily influenced.
If neither group stands then it could be determined that this generation isn’t as prominently influenced by gestures.
