Beef Industry and Impact

When the Civil War broke the ranchers left their farms so that they could go fight for the confederate army. The defeat destroyed the economy but the cattle left on their own devices where they had multiplied.

When the United States granted 160 acres of free land to migrants it offered a fair chance to men and women

Little Big Horn

This war was the most successful battle fought by the American Indians against the United States Army in the west

Exodusters

It was a mass migration used to escape racial discrimination and segregation from the KKK

Winter

It showed the beginning to the end of the untamed western wilderness and of the roving cowboys

Dawes Act

It helped reduce the tribes ability to live in their own traditional ways

Klondike Strike

Kicked out a lot of migrants from their hometowns to Canadian Yukon Territory and Alaska after they had discovered Gold on 1896.

American Indian Citizen Act

Now American Indians are citizens born with in territorial limits.

Farming Techniques

Decreased use of water, fertilizer, and pesticides, which in turn keeps food prices down. Reduced impact on natural ecosystems.
