How and why
According to Buddhist scripture, mandalas constructed from sand transmit positive energies to the environment and to the people who view them. Which is why they are made!
fun facts!
Mandala Color Meaning
White: Openness. Red: Power, the life force. Yellow: Humility. Blue: Infinity, Purity, and Life. Black: Darkness
Although there are other shapes used to form the Mandala design, the whole picture will certainly contain a circle, which clearly represents wholeness.
Geometry is incorporated with mandalas because of the mandalas shape and measurements. you can't make one without using geometry.
How are mandalas made? Great question, the design of the mandala is marked with chalk on a wooden platform. This meticulous process takes an entire day. Starting from the center and concentrically working outwards.
Geometric Connections
A type of symmetry used in making mandalas is Rotational symmetry, also known as radial symmetry in biology, it's the property a shape has when it looks the same after some rotation by a partial turn.
another type of symmetry used in mandalas is Reflectional symmetry, also called bilateral, line symmetry or mirror symmetry. It occurs when a line is drawn to divide a shape in halves so that each half is a reflection of the other.
Parallel lines are lines that have the same slope. These are used in mandalas because they are symmetrical and require to have lines that have the same slope on both sides.
Perpendicular lines are defined as two lines that meet or intersect each other at right angles. you can use these to create a perpendicular bisector which is one of the first steps in creating a mandala.
fun facts!
The reason why mandalas are so popular because it's beautiful and simple at the same time! And it carries loads of various meanings.
Mandalas can also be used as an aid to meditation, helping the mediator to envision how to achieve the perfect self.

This is a mandala i really enjoy!
