Oncology - Breast, Ovarian Endometrial, Cervix CA
*Dimpling = suspensory ligament spread
- if the suspensory ligaments get involved in breast CA
--> they pull on the overlying skin and causedimpling
-
*BRCA1 mutations"BRCA1 = BROKEN DNA BRA repair""too many eggs released --> BRCA your uterus"
- note that the 3 major PROTECTIVE factors are ANYTHING that stops you from ovulating
--> lots of kids
--> lots of breastfeeding
--> oral contraceptives
- the less eggs you release the better
- Risk factors = the opposite
--> the more eggs you release higher BRCA ovarian CA risk
--> number 1 RF = nulliparity and increased ovulation
-
*Ovarian CA
- very non specific marker but common secrtion is CA-125 in ovarian tumors
*granulosa tumor of ovary
- secrete estrogen and thus present with thickened endometrium
-
*Breast Cancer
- Inflammatory breast cancer = Peu de ORANGE breasts
--> with blocked axillary lymph nodes back up tot he breasts
--> causing dimpling and erythamatous pruritic rash
*Inflammatory Breast CA
- Inflammatory breast cancer = Peu de ORANGE breasts
--> with blocked axillary lymph nodes back up tot he breasts
--> causing dimpling and erythamatous pruritic rash
- called "inflammatory" but there is actually no inflammatory cells
--> just the CAc cells blocking the lymph drainage
--> causing the edema and rash
-
*DCIS = ductal carcinoma In Situ
- stays within the lumen with central necrosis and calcification
- can lead to IDC if it breaks through the BM
