The main leaders of the Congress of the People, including Nelson Mandela, OR Tambo, Oliver Sisulu etc.

The NP government laid charges of High - Treason against t 156 members of the Congress of the People as they were certain that this group of people were starting a communist conspiracy against the South African government.

What?

It was a march to the Union Buildings in Pretoria in support of Women rights against apartheid.

9 August, 1956

Pretoria

FEDSAW (Federation of South African Women), lead by Helen Joseph, Sophie Williams and Lilian Ngoyi.

Women were protesting against unjust Apartheid laws, most notably pass laws that discriminated wholly against women.
