PBIS:Sadness/Depression
Cherry is a new 7-grade girl in this school year. She seldom smiles and talks to people initiatives. She shows a loss of interest in learning and activities, which leads to decreased participation and effort in school. She often falls asleep at school and has fatigue and decreased energy. Once I talked with her, she told me her mother had tried suicide. She had changed a lot of schools.
Tier 1
Acknowledging positive behavior & Praise when good attitude and involvement occur - I would give her timely feedback on her behavior changes.
Draw a picture or write in a journal - I would try to make connections with her, and we can exchange journal to let her express her feeling and thoughts.
Talk one on one with student - I would talk with her and listen to her story. I would talk about the positive mindset about her life.
-
-
Tier 2
Structured Breaks - I would set a safe and non-disruptive area for her to go and calm and recover. When she comes back, thank her for leaving and returning so cooperatively.
Teach Relationship Skills - I would do relationship skills lessons and interventions for small groups and individuals.
Mentoring - I would try to establish a rapport and trusting relationship with her.
We will meet one-on-one once a week for 15 minutes.
-
Tier 3
Parent conference: At this tier, I would ask for a school board and parent conference to talk about how to help her next.
Teach Relationship Skills: Customize specific relationship skills lessons and interventions for her.
Collaboration with Student's Mental Health Provider: At this point, I would collaborate with professional mentor.
