Disruptive Student Behaviours, Negative Attitude (Is the student.....…

- - - - Peer Tutoring: In addition to behaviour buddies, students may also be asked to work in pairs or groups in order to complete more specific tasks. This sense of responsibility may help students to see work in a new light, or take more responsibility for the work in which they approach learning.
      - Behaviour Contract: The students should be taught or retaught expected behaviour norms as a class, including more time spent particularly on norms that revolve around active engagement and positive learning attitude or growth mindset. Each student can then be asked to sign a behaviour contract which will specifically stipulate positive attitude norms.
      - Tier 3
        
        Daily Behaviour Form: In this case, intimate parental involvement is problematic as his parents have shown little inclination or ability to help him focus beyond shouting at him or even hitting him. However, as all else has been tried at this point, his parents must be made to take more interest in his behaviour from class to class.
        
        FBA
        
        One-on-one mentoring: At this point it may be necessary to remove the student from a class to give them one-on-one education. The influence or others, or the students desire to influence others in a negative way be at the cause of the problem. In this way, removing the student from the class environment and giving more personalised instruction may be the only way to redirect their attitude, as well as limit the potential for negative effects on other students.
        
        Counselling/Outside Referral: Should the student continue to display negative behaviours or attitudes, it may be that there is an underlying cause that is impossible to improve in the training centre environment. The parents may then be needed to seek outside help of some kind to address the student problem, whether this is emotional or psychiatric. This would require a great deal of talking with the parent.

      - Behaviour Meetings: Schedule time during each class to discuss the students behaviour and attitude towards each other. Try to create discussions between the students in which they discuss how they make each other feel.. Find positive and negative points which you expect the student to work on in the next class. At this stage, it may be a good idea to assign "behaviour buddies" who can be tasked with being responsible for each others performance in class.

- - - - CICO: The student may benefit from the teacher giving more structure to the students in how they structure their time. By helping them to establish routines and take responsibility for themselves, this should help them to create better work plans.
      - Tier 3
        
        Self-Monitoring: The student may be given particular help involving some kind of self-monitoring in which they are asked to write daily (or in the case of less frequent students, weekly) self evaluations that can a) be used when discussing the problem further with the parents or with the student directly, and b) help the student to reassess their own behaviour. This can help to suggest extremely individualised strategies going forward.
        
        Organisational Tool: The teacher can work closely with the student to inform them of and train them in the use of organisational tools that may help the student to better organise or structure their time spent on educational activities. These tools can be integrated into lesson plans or taught specifically to the student in question outside of class time.

      - The Praise Game: Here students work in groups to ensure each other's commitment to a set of pre-established good behaviours, by fulfilling which at certain time points throuout the class, the group gets a point and praise. In this case, the behaviours would be work output related such as "takes part in discussion", "writes so many lines" etc.
