COMMITMENT TO "DUE PROCESS OF LAW"
Established procedures; no trial without evidence/testimony to support accusations; reliance on local courts and magistrates; trials held in a timely manner; trials open to the public; trial by jury of one's peers
Chapter 38 tells about how an official can't put a victim on trial without witnesses
Chapter 17 tells about making a everlasting court, which seemed
reasonable
to the people at the time
Chapter 36 tells that the punishment of some victims are life or limbs, but the writ made it so that inquiry is to be free, and that made an essential element of process of law
FAIRNESS OF THE LAWS AND THEIR EXECUTION
"Reasonable" rules and regulations; equal justice under the law; recognition of customs, traditions, and established rights; restoration of property and fines if not justly taken; punishment in proportion to the crime.
Chapter 19 tells about how they would try to make a fair hearing, especially if there isn't enough space in the court
Chapter 20 tells about how they would try to be as fair as possible with the punishment depending on how serious the offense was
Chapter 21 tells roughly the same to Chapter 20 because it talks about the offense to the fairness
Chapter 39 tells about how no man shall be "... seized or imprisoned, stripped of his rights, or possessions, or outlawed, or exiled, or deprived oh his standings.." which means that no one can take away anything unless by the lawful judgement.
Chapter 55 tells how for all the fines that the victims were given unjustly, they got repayment
RESPECT FOR ECONOMIC RIGHTS
Right to property; fairness in economic transactions--standard weights and measures; reimbursement for and/or restoration of property; freedom for merchants to move in order to conduct business
Chapter 63 tells about the men in the kingdom, that they shall keep all liberties
Chapter 60 tells about giving rights and liberties, that would be extended to men and men within the kingdom
RULE OF LAW
Powers and privileges of the king are clearly defined and limited; charter provides for enforcement of restrictions placed on the king
Chapter 24 tells how no royal officials can hold lawsuits that the royal justices can, they did this to make a same system of justice
Chapter 45 tells how they enforced a standard and they administered a law, so that they must understand the laws
Chapter 40 tells how they won't sell or deny right or justice, and charge a fee for writs and for its value. And these charges were serious and the king thought that they could raise revenue
Chapter 1 tells about how they can guarantee rights and freedom of church, without the kings interference
