The Battle of Hastings
a good example of a conflict of societies is The Battle of Hastings. in 1066, after the death of the English king, Edward having no heir to the throne, i number of men believed they had the right to rule England. Harold Godwinson, the powerful earl of Wessex, a contender, immediately got himself crowned king. although Edward's cousin, William, the duke of Normandy, too believed he was the rightful ruler. causing the two contenders to go to battle. at the end it was William who held victory, due to the Norman's far superior experience in battle and warfare. shortly after William became known as William the conquer. William brought new Norman traditions to England. the most significantly being, spreading the system of feudalism, which changed not just England but paces all over Europe
