Incorporating Tech in the Classroom: Solutions to Integration Problems
Setting clear expectations with students about using tech in the classroom
Creating classroom norms and protocols for tech responsibility
framing technology to be something we respect and value rather than abuse
Embracing technology rather than being afraid.
Explore different websites and outlets on your own before bringing them into the class
taking the classroom beyond its four walls
giving students real world experiences
Having a "tech kid" that can help other students
Teach one student the information and allow them to become the expert
give students a chance to collaborate with others while also using technology (google docs)
Giving students free time to to explore (ie: genius hour)
Letting them choose what they want to learn about gives them more ownership of their learning.
Limited access to technological devices
Encouraging equitable use of tech in the classroom so that all students have fair access to using the devices
Use technology for educational purposes but incorporate fun websites such as spelling city
Encouraging parents to be a part of their child's learning experience via tech
Using an app (like Bloomz) where parents and teacher can communicate and teacher can share pictures/activities that students did in class
Have students video tape themselves through outlets such as Flipgrid
This allows for more equitable sharing because it provides a platform for communication for EL students or shy students
