exposure to blood and blood products contaminated with viruses

alcohol
circulatory problems
exposure to hepatotoxic substances e.g industrial chemicals and medication
Definition and Pathophysiology
cytotoxic cytokines and natural killer cells cause lysis in affected cells.
inflammation of the liver
liver become swollen there may be necrosis
interuption of bile flow occurs due to infection
Nursing care plan
recommend eating in upright position
monitor dietary intake and caloric count.
encourage mouth care before meal
suggest several small feedings and offer largest meal at breakfast
analgesics should be given with caution
monitor serum glucose
administer medication as prescribed e,g anticids,antiemetics
signs and symptoms
diarrhoea
anorexia
dark urine
jundice
abdonimal discomfort
vomiting
constipation
