Defination
Salpingitis
is inflammation of the fallopian tubes, caused by bacterial infection.
Oophiritis
is inflammation of the ovaries.
Causes
sexually transmitted diseases such as gonorrhoea and chlamydia.
Clinical manifestation
-Foul-smelling vaginal discharge
-Yellow vaginal discharge
-Pain during ovulation, menstruation, or sex
-Spotting between periods
-Dull lower back pain
-Abdominal pain
-Nausea
-Vomiting
-Fever
-Frequent urination
Management
-Antibiotics
-If infection has caused an abscess/scars
Laparoscopic surgery may be performed.
Risk factors
-Chronic infections in the body
-Smoking
-Promiscuity
-Unprotected sexual intercourse
Nursing care plan
Bleeding
-observe pad for bleeding
-monitor and record vital signs
-monitor and record fluid intake and output
Pain
-assess pain adequately to get baseline data
-allow the patient to assume the position that relieves pain
ensure that the catheter is draining as the extended can also cause pain
