Book Marking Theory
There are different ways to own a book
Posess a few books, read most of them, but not really dive deep into it
Shown by clean, pristine pages, mostly of popular books and bestsellers
Possesses many books that are broken in, and marked up to show close reading
The true way to own a book
Posess a lot of books, but not really read them
Close reading and marking the text shows that you were invested in the text
This may be true, but sometimes you get so lost in the book that you don't even think to take away attention to mark it
Books themselves are not a thing to be respected, the authors are
The marking of the book shows a respect for the work the author put in, a clean book does not show that you thought about the book much
