Solar eclipse
Trivia
The moon moves 1.5 inches away from the Earth each year. A billion years later, moon will be too far away to be able to completely cover the Sun.
First man on moon was Neil arm strong, landed on moon on 20th July 1969. apollo 11 was launched on 16th july 1969

Moon's synodic cycle is 29.5 days
an eclipse isnt experienced every month because the moon isnt aligned with the earth's orbit. its tilted at 5.1 degrees
-
Types of eclipse
Total eclipse
Moon covers the entire sun
Only regions in the umbral shadow can observe it
The shadow casted on earth as it races is called the path of totality
Happens every year of two somewhere on earth
Any given point experience this once in 400 years
Just before the moon completely covers the sun. The low lying lying valleys of moon allow the light to pass through, brilliant shafts of lights produces as a result are called Bailey's beads. The beads disappear one after another and the last one is called the diamond ring, indicating the total eclipse in few seconds
-
Annular eclipse
Moon appears too small to cover the sun due to elliptical orbit.(the moon is a bit far from earth when the eclipse occur)
Hybrid eclipse
Happens because of the curvature of the earth
Moon is farther from some parts resulting in annular eclipse
Moon is just close enough in some parts to cover the sun-total eclipse
occurs when the moon comes between the earth and the sun. The sun is 400 times bigger than the moon, yet its able to cover the sun because its about 400 times farther( sun 93 million miles away and moon 2.8 million miles away from earth)

We get an eclipse when two points of the moon orbit crosses the ecliptic plane of sun. As earth orbits, those two points called nodes get aligned with sun twice a year causing lunar and solar eclipse
-
Lunar eclipse
Happens with the earth block the sunlight and casts a shadow on the moon. All three have to be in line with sun's ecliptic plane. This rarely happens because the moon's orbit is tilted 5 degrees.
moon moves in the umbral shadow of earth and appears to be deep orange or blood red sometimes because only red light is allowed to pass through as the shorter wavelengths get absorbed in earth's atmosphere
Lasts longer than a solar eclipse because earths's shadow is larger. And can be seen by anyone on the night side of the earth
