Aidan - Macbeth
Act 1
Scene 4
When Macbeth, Banquo, Ross, and Angus enter, the king praises them and suddenly announces that Malcolm will be taking the thrown. Macbeth is happy, but he now knows that Malcolm stands between him and the thrown.
Plans are made to have King Duncan to dine at Macbeth's castle, so Macbeth tells his wife.
At the palace, the king hears of the original Cawdor's execution and that he died 'nobly'.
Scene 3
The witches label him with names, such as the thane of cawdor. Macbeth has not heard of this news yet. Banquo continues to ask them questions while Macbeth is weary of the information they're giving him about his own thoughts (exposing?).
The quote, "Your children shall be kings," looms with Macbeth as he thinks about what it means. Ross then comes in to tell him that he has been made thane of Cawdor. Macbeth wants to speak with Banquo privately about the encounter.

Scene 5
Lady Macbeth is unsure if Macbeth is prepared to swipe the crown from Malcolm. He is too full of "th' milk of human kindness".
Near the end of the scene, Lady Macbeth puts aside her femininity to take the extra step in taking the crown. She insists that he does it tonight.
Lady Macbeth, at Macbeth's castle, reads a letter she has received from Macbeth. He talks about his promotion from the King and that he will be meeting with three witches.
Scene 2
The captain tells the king that they have won because of Macbeth, who came and saved the stalemate. The king asks the captain to put Macbeth in the position of thane of Cawdor.

Scene 7
Macbeth explains the reasons why he shouldn't murder the king, but Lady Macbeth insults him and says they should prepare the scene.

Act 5
Scene 4

Malcolm, Siward and his son, and the other lords meet Malcolm at Birnam Wood. Malcolm tells every soldier to break off a branch and hold it in front of them, as to conceal how many soldiers the enemy can see. They will give the king inaccurate reports.
Scene 5
The messenger enters, saying that the woods are moving (the soldiers holding branches).
He replies that she would have died later anyway. He continues to say that life is like an illusion.
Macbeth's confidence in winning this war is failing him, as he prepares everyone to attack.
Macbeth, Seyton and soldiers enter. Macbeth says they need to hang their flags to scare away the opposing army. Women scream off-screen, which Macbeth soon finds out that his wife has died.
Scene 3
Macbeth wants to put on his armor, for his isn't afraid to fight. He asks about his wife, with the doctor replying that she has had trouble sleeping with her visions. Macbeth says to give her medicine, but he says that she will have to treat herself.
A servant comes, pale-faced, to tell Macbeth that there are ten thousand soldiers waiting for him outside. Macbeth tells him to get out of his sight.
Macbeth gets help putting his armor on, and the doctor wishes he were anywhere but here.
Macbeth, a doctor, and attendants enter. Macbeth, looking back on what the prophecy literally meant to him, thinks that he has nothing to worry about.
Scene 6
Malcolm orders Siward and his son to lead the first battle. He and Macduff shall do the rest, according to their plan.
Malcolm, Siward, Macduff, and their army enter carrying the branches. Malcolm plans to lay down the branches.
Scene 2
The four pledge their loyalty to, the one they think should be on the throne, Malcolm.
Malcolm, the head of an army, plans to meet the four of them with his army near Birnam Wood. They heard that Macbeth has gone insane and is fortifying his castle.
Menteith, Lennox, Caithness, Angus, and soldiers with colored flags enter.
Scene 7
Malcolm and Siward enter. Siward says Macbeth's soldiers are fighting from both sides. The soldiers do not want to hurt them.

Scene 1
She then enters asleep, carrying a candle. She claims that she has blood on her hands and that she'll never be able to wash it off. She then leaves.
At King Macbeth's castle, a doctor and a gentlewoman discuss Lady Macbeth's habit of sleepwalking.
Scene 8
Macbeth dies with his head cut off, but is a little more human in his last moments.
Macbeth and Macduff fight. Macduff says that he was pulled from his mother's womb before she could naturally give birth to him.
Themes
Hopefulness, contrasted with hopelessness (Macduff's army vs. Macbeth's army).

Act 3
Scene 4
The guests leave. Macbeth says "blood will have blood." He then says that he will visit the witches again the next day to get more answers.
Suddenly, Macbeth sees Banquo's ghost sitting in his chair and starts talking to him. Lady Macbeth makes excuses before snapping him out of his "trance." The ghost reappears and Macbeth makes shocked outbursts

At the feast, one of the hired murderers tells Macbeth that Banquo is dead and that his son Fleance has escaped. This greatly angers Macbeth, for the throne is not safe from Banquo's family.
Scene 5
Hecate wants them to create a false sense of security for Macbeth as to "draw him out of his confusion."
The witches meet with Hecate. She reprimands them for messing around with Macbeth's fate, but then says she will supervise the mischief they cause.

Scene 6
Macduff and Malcolm have gone to England to ask for King Edward's aid. This news has incited Macbeth to prepare for a war.
Lennox and another Lord talk about Banquo's death and how it was blamed on Fleance, while they believe it to be Macbeth's doing.
Scene 2
Macbeth wants Lady Macbeth to be extra kind to Banquo and Fleance at the feast to create a false sense of security for them.
Lady Macbeth talks with Macbeth, with him talking about how his mind is "full of scorpions", and that there are still threats to the throne that need to be eliminated.
Scene 1
Banquo leaves. Macbeth starts a soliloquy, saying that Banquo, his one true friend, is the only person he fears because he might take his crown. Duncan's murder is also on Macbeth's conscious.
Macbeth and Lady Macbeth, now both respectively King and Queen, invite Banquo to their feast. He accepts. Macbeth thinks that Malcolm and Donalbain, having previously fled to Scotland, are plotting against the crown.
Macbeth talks with two muderers that he has hired, and orders them to kill Banquo.
With the three witches's prophecy, that Macbeth would gain the throne and Banquo's line will then take the throne, has Banquo thinking.

Act 2
Scene 3
Now with Malcolm, King Duncan's son, wanting to hear what happened, Macbeth explains that the blood-wiped faces of the guards did it and talks about what a horrible event it was.
Macduff goes to wake up the king, but finds him dead in his bed. Banquo tells the news to Lady Macbeth, who pretends to be an innocent bystander.
A drunk Porter hears knocking on the door, while pretending to be the gatekeeper in hell as a means of knocking for as long as he has.
Malcolm and Donalbain leave for England and Ireland, respectively. They don't wish to be involved with this murder anymore.
Scene 4

Ross and an Old Man talk about the event, and how Duncan's horses supposedly ate each other.
Scene 2
Someone is knocking at the door, and Macbeth wishes that he could wake up King Duncan by knocking on his door.

Macbeth returns to Lady Macbeth, with bloody daggers, and explains that he is horrified from what he has done and that he started hearing voices, "Macbeth shall sleep no more".
Scene 1
Macbeth goes up to an unsuspecting King Duncan, draws the knife while giving a long speech about how he will regret this, and kills him.

Act 4
Scene 2
A messenger delivers a letter that says she is in danger and needs to flee. The murderers enter, killing Lady Macduff's son and chasing after her.
At Macduff's castle, Lady Macduff feels like her husband betrayed her by leaving for Scotland. She tells her son that he is dead, even though he insists that he is not.
Scene 3
King Edward can cure disease, apparently.
Macduff shows that he is loyal to Scotland and not King Macbeth. This is how he passes Malcolm's test of trust.
Ross tells Malcolm that he should return because Scotland is in despair after Macbeth took the title of King. He says that he will go with ten thousand soldiers. Ross tells Macduff that Macbeth murdered his wife and child, and Macduff says that he will have his revenge.
Macduff and Malcolm speak with each other outside of King Edward's castle. Malcolm says that he doesn't trust him for leaving his family behind in Scotland, so he tests him by asking him.
Scene 1
Then, eight crowned Kings (including Banquo) walk by Macbeth, with the last ghost carrying a mirror. Macbeth is confused, but then everyone disappears.
An armed, floating head tells Macbeth to be aware of Macduff, as a warning. A bloody child then appears saying "for none of a woman born shall harm Macbeth." Then, when Macbeth starts to feel better about his survival, a third apparition appears: a crowned child with a tree in his hand tells him that he is safe until Birnam Wood moves to Dunsinane Hill.

While the witches prepare their charms, Macbeth enters. He wants to know what is true about their prophecies about him.
