- - - - Act 3: Banquo paces the halls of the palace at Forres thinking about the witch's prophecies. Macbeth enters dressed as a king followed by his wife and the court. They invite Banquo to a feast that night and he agrees to come. Macbeth says that the should talk about Malcolm and Dolbain and how they could be plotting against the crown. Macbeth dismisses the court and is left alone except for a single servant. The servant tells him that two men have come to see Macbeth. He sends the servant to bring the in. Macbeth thinks to himself about the prophecy and if Banquo's family takes the throne that means Macbeth will not have an heir. The two men that have come to visit are murderers that Macbeth hired. Their job is to murder Banquo and his son, Fleance. The murderers agree to the job. They go to wait for Macbeth's command. Lady Macbeth calls for her husband. He comes and tells her that he has planned something and to be kind to Banquo and Fleance that evening. As Banquo and Fleance are walking through the woods coming to Macbeth's castle they are attacked by the murderers. Banquo is killed but Fleance escapes. The murderers head to the castle to tell Macbeth what happened. He is quite angry that Fleance escaped and worrie\s that his crown is still not safe. As Macbeth goes to sit down he sees the ghost of Banquo sitting in his chair. Lady Macbeth tells everyone that they should dismiss his strange behavior as he has visions often. Then she tells him to get a grip and the spirit disappears. Then it happens again and Lady Macbeth sends the guests out. Macbeth tells her that Macduff plans to stay away from the court. Macbeth plans to go see the three witches and in the morning. Hecate the leader of the witches scolds them for messing with Macbeth. She tells them that tomorrow they should conjure visions that give a false sense of security. Lennox is somewhere talking to another lord about how the murder of Banquo has been blamed on Fleance and that he has fled. Both men, however, suspect Macbeth. Macduff as gone to ask Malcolm for help with overthrowing Macbeth.
        
        Act 4: Macbeth arrives at the witch's cave and asks them to explain the prophecies. To answer the conjure up awful apparitions of an armed head, a bloody child, and a crowned child. Then he asks about Banquo's bloodline and if they will take the crown. An apparition appears of eight crowned kings the last one is holding a mirror. Banquo walks at the end of this line. Macbeth demands an answer to this vision. The witches vanish. Lennox arrives telling him that Macduff as fled. Macbeth plans to send murderers to the castle to kill Macduff's family. Lady Macduff is upset that her husband left her. Ross consoles her and says she should trust her husband. Lady Macduff tells her son that his father is dead but he argues that he's not. A messenger runs in warning her that danger is coming and that she should flee. She argues and says she has done nothing wrong. The murderers arrive and kill her and her son. Macduff talks to Malcolm. Malcolm tests if he is trustworthy and then decides he is. Malcolm says that King Edward can help them. Ross arrives and tells Macduff that his family has been killed. Ross breaks down and tells them hat is Macbeth that murdered his family. Macduff vows to get revenge. Malcolm is reading to help.
        
        Act 5: At night a doctor and gentlewomen are discussing Lady Macbeth's state. She has been sleepwalking. Just then she walks in a trance talking about Lady Macduff and Banquo's deaths. She says that their blood is on her hands and nothing can wash it off. Outside the English army approaches. The Scottish army is going to meet them at Birnam Wood. Macbeth orders the doctor to cure his wife. He is not afraid of the English army because of the witch's prophecies. There are ten thousand men marching towards the castle. Macbeth insists on wearing his armor even though the battle is still far out. Out by Birnam Wood, Malcolm is talking to Siward about battle strategies. They decide that each soldier should cut a tree and carry it to disguise their numbers. Macbeth orders banners are hung because he thinks they will beat the English. Lady Macbeth dies. Macbeth describes his life as meaning nothing. The news comes that the Birnam Woods are marching towards the castle. Macbeth remembers the vision and decides that he is tired of life and that he should die fighting. The battle begins. Macbeth kills Siward's son and then disappears into battle. Macduff is looking everywhere in the battle for Macduff so he can fight him. Malcolm and Siward penetrate the castle. Finally, Macduff finds Macbeth. Macbeth says that he is invincible because no one born of a woman can hurt him. Macduff then tells him that his mother had a c-section making him not born form a woman. Macbeth becomes terrified but won't back down. Malcolm and Siward have now captured the castle. Ross delivers the news that Young Siward is dead. Macduff enters with Macbeth's head. He declares that Malcolm his king. His first order will be to make all his thanes earls. Malcolm cursing out Macbeth and his wife invites them all to see him crowned.
- - - - The Three Witches: They give Macbeth and Banquo a prophecy that start Macbeth on his dark path. They cause trouble to disupt the chain of being.
        
        Banquo: Macbeth's closest friend. Ends up getting murdered. Was a kind, brave, and smart person.
        
        King Duncan: A good king everyone liked him. Macbeth kills him for the crown.
        
        Macduff: One of the only people to suspect Macbeth as the murderer.
        
        Lady Macduff: The wife of Macduff. one of Macbeth's victims.
        
        Malcolm: One of Duncan's sons Is accused of hiring the chamberlains to kill his father.
