characterized by autoantibodies against self-antigens especially presence of Antinuclear antibody (ANA)
a chronic multisystem autoimmune condition with widespread inflammation of blood vessels & connective tissue

onset commonly around 10 - 12 years
majority 85% >8 year old
< 18 year old 15%-20%
