PREOPERATIVE CARE
Relieve anxiety
Provide for physical needs to ensure stability before the operation
Shave site
Preparation of a sterile tray with a utility pack that has a sterile pad
Ensuring that the patient has an empty bladder
Place the patient in a lithotomy position
Cleaning the vulva by swabbing with downward and backward strokes
POSTOPERATIVE CARE
Monitor vital signs
Administer analgesics as prescribed

COMPLICATIONS
Pain related to surgery
Wound infection related to non-adherence to aseptic techniques

Vulvular intraepithelial neoplasia
HEALTH EDUCATION
Encourage the woman to wash her genitalia daily and to do sitz baths
Importance of wiping from front to back should be emphasised
Encourage woman to change pad frequently and disposed of safely
