A key historical event is the Dawn Raids. This event was caused by eurocentrism, populism and the economic boom. This event also had the following consequences of deportation and random checks of pasifika people New zealand’s image being damaged and the racism towards pacific or coloured people was recognised.

A key cause of the dawn raids was the concept of eurocentrism.
Eurocentrism is when someone is subject to only or biased towards western European ways of living and civilization. For New Zealand, It's existence started from when the British Queens colony took over new Zealand in the 1800s. From then on British people have worked hard to colonize the people of New Zealand, to teach them western European ways. They also set a ‘Settlers Society’ in New Zealand which was to attempt to settle eurocentric values around the world. This allowed British people to have superiority over Maori people and other cultures living in New Zealand. European people had justified their culture using pseudoscience making their culture the most advanced and superior to others in the world.
