Salpingitis
Description
is a type of PID , inflammation of the fallopian tubes
Pathophysiology
endometrium may be necrotic in appearance
salpingitis which causes the tubes to become congested, oedematous and occluded with limited mobility
ovaries becomes inflamed and oedematuos and may adhere to the fimbra of the tubes
inflammation of the tubes and ovaries may suppurate and develop into a abscess that will later burst into the pelvic peritoneal cavity
Causes
history of STI
having unprotected sex
have multiple sexual partners
Symptoms
foul-smelling vaginal discharge
yellow vaginal discharge
pain during ovulation, menstruation or sex
frequent urination
spotting between periods
Diagnostic tests
blood and urine test
swab test for vagina and cervix
transvaginal or abdominal ultrasound
hysterosalpingogram
Nursing management
administer prescribed medication
provide plenty of water to drink
monitor and accurately record vital signs
vulva swabbing

Description

Description

this then creates an environment conductive for bacteria to thrive
breast may then engorged and painful with extended blood vessels.
pus and blood may ooze out of the nipples

breast swelling
breast tenderness
pain or a burning sensation while breast feeding
