Symptoms
Inability to fully open mouth
Discomfort or pain when opening mouth or eating
Foul taste in your mouth
Pus in mouth
Pain in mouth
Redness or swelling over a jaw or infront eyes, below jaw
Signs of infection such as fever
Swelling of face or neck
Causes
Deceased flow of saliva
Formation of microoganism in bacterial infection

Treatment
Antibiotics may be used to treat bacterial infection
A fine needle aspiration may be used to drain pus
Analgesics may be given for pain
Surgical removal of damaged infected gland

Massage the gland to stimulate the flow of saliva
Maintain oral hygiene
Mantain adequate nutrition
Encourage the patient to drink lot of water

It usually found in patients with supressed immune system
It is also common in dehydrated and debiliated patient
