Me at Work
I think I have a good work ethic. If it is something I enjoy I don't mind putting in the effort to make it the best it can be.
I value a position that will allow me to learn and grow along with being creative. There also has to be a good atmosphere in the work place.
I believe the type of work I would be doing does fit my personality. I am a creative, fun, and outgoing person. I think because of that I am not afraid to share my ideas or try something new.
I think honesty, integrity, and a code of ethics is super important in any type of work. There are ways to get ahead that ethically are not right but people do anyway. I could not be apart of something like that. I think being honest in the work you do can get you as far as you want to go.
Long Term Goals
The salary range for management positions in my industry is $46.5k - $71.8k
I would like to be able to put money towards a 401K. I also know that some companies contribute to or match what you add so that would be something to look into once I start working.
I would love to get a new car but only until mine becomes a problem. I have it paid off and haven't had any issues with it yet so I am able to save money to put towards that in the future. I would also like to save for a house one day. Depending on what my salary would be would determine how much I could put away a month for these things.
Fiscal Responsibility/ Needs
My budget does cover my lifestyle needs, however it would have to monitor it very closely. To help save as much money as possible I plan to live at home for awhile. By living at home I will have a longer commute to work everyday so there will be more gas, and miles put onto my car. I am also lucky enough to not have any student loans to worry about thanks to my grandma. I like nice things and love to travel but these are things I can live without. I just need to watch how much I am spending and saving every month.
My short term spending habits are not great. I tend to spend as I get. Instead of packing a lunch everyday for my current job I buy lunch. I spend anywhere from $5 - $12 a day on food for lunch. I could be saving around $200 a month if I started packing a lunch.
I currently live outside of Pittsburgh which I am fine with. I don't love commuting downtown everyday so I would consider moving in town if not closer. Depending on the area the cost of living jumps up a bit. I would most likely start putting money aside to save to eventually move.
Compensation
I was unable to find any benefits listed within the
job posting
. Based off a basic google search however it does say they offer health, dental, and vision insurance.
The median of rent in my area for a two bedroom apartment is around $1,300 a month. If I was looking in nearby areas they are up in the $2,000.
The average monthly cost of food & drink in the city or area you will be living is
According to Glass Door, the average salary for a Graphic Designer in Pittsburgh ranges from $29.6K-$54.5K. I would not expect to be making $54.5k right out of college but it would be a good number to work towards and even higher than that.
Life Long Learner
I plan to educate myself about my industry after graduation by staying up to date on the different softwares. They are always being updated with new features so I think it would be good to know them. I will also read articles and listen to podcast on these topics. I would maybe consider grad school at some point but not now.
The trends within my industry right now would be there are a lot of different ways to design in todays society. 3D art is definitely big now.
I think there is a lot of growth within this field. I could move all the way up to a Senior Graphic Designer or an Art Director.
As of right now I do not have plans to pursue another degree. If it was something the company I work for would pay for or some of the cost I would do it. In 5 to 10 years it might be a good idea to do so just because of how much technology changes there will most definitely be something new to learn.
