Narratives
The ice caps have melted and the oceans have risen. Refugees flee their sinking countries, many to Australia. We see famous Sydney landmarks immersed in the sea. From the air/space we see the rising water and the passage of refugees. The population of Australia swells and we see buildings sprawl deeper into the country. From space we see the lights from these new and expanded cities. Immense solar and wind farms emerge in the scorching outback. Extreme weather conditions cause great orange dust storms. Over time the slums morph and are consumed by larger, futuristic cities. In the outback we see the construction of a launch platform and eventually we see a rocket carrying passengers into space. More rockets launch heading for the moon and Mars.

Humans have colonised Mars, but an asteroid collides with and wipes out Earth, and the Martians are forced to survive without the homeland.
2984:
A re-imaging of the 1984 tropes in a futuristic setting. If that story was told in the age of Neuralink, how would an authoritarian power wield control over the population? Would ‘thought police’ and the ‘Ministry of Love’ take on a new manifestation? They could monitor your thoughts in real-time, implant thoughts, even control your motor cortex...would there be a faction of people that surgically remove the Neuralink and try to fight back somehow? Or just live separately (similar to Brave New World).

Earth has been struck by an unexpected meteor, decimating most of the population, flora and fauna on the planet. We follow some of the few survivors through the brutal nuclear winter.
An extra-terrestrial spaceship arrives at Earth, and humanity is shocked to discover that the visitors are our decendants, searching for a lost colony ship that became the beginnings of human life on Earth.
