Writer should describe niche puzzlement for not receiving letters. Ignoring, keeping busy, worrying, then hating himself for worrying, for niche is married now with a regular job. But he couldn't, worry turns into fear, fear into intense feeling of loss. So he goes through the pile of letters he received (the writer here reveals that niche kept all he letters -to attract the reader). Niche would send a letter to the last port, a formal one. But doesn't get a reply. Niche would worry, send another to the previous port, without a reply. A graduate sense of loss should develop with every letter and every port until niche surrenders to despair. Until niche realises what he had lost. Niche would weep for the 2nd (and last weep) in his entire life.
