World War One
The industrial Revolution created the population and the machines to create a global war. The machines could transport powerful weapons across the world. Resources could be brought from the globe to fuel the fight.
Main causes:
Imperialism: Policy of a country to increase its power by claiming territories for their empire. Imperialism helped cause World War One because each country was only looking out for themselves.
Nationalism: The sense of pride in one's nation which can either unite or divide a nation. It helped cause World War One because each countries had pride in themselves and only wanted to defend themselves.
Alliance System: Arrangement between nations that if one would become involved in was, the other ally would come to their aid.
The Triple Alliance: formed in 1882
Consisted of: Germany, Austria-Hungary, Italy
The Triple Entente: formed in 1907
Consisted of: Britain, France, Russia

Militarism: the belief that all nations should build and maintain strong armed forces to defend themselves. It helped cause World War One because of military competition.
