Endometriosis is a condition characterized by the presence of endometrial tissue outside the uterus.

Deposition of endometrial tissue on abdominal scars during laparotomies in case where there is existing endometriosis in the pelvic cavity.
Familial deposition
Says that in the absence of retrograde flow into the fallopian tubes, women with a family history of endometriosis are at risk of developing the condition.
Endometriotic foci may vary from small red/brown/black lesions to large thick dark brown cysts called endometiomas.
