ABDOMINAL HERNIA
DEFINATION
It can be caused by the weakening of the diaphragmatic walls or enlarged lower end of the esophageal opening.
It is differentiated into two types. Type one is called sliding hernia. this is where portion of the fundus of stomach and esophageal junction is displaced into thoracic opening.

Type two is called rolling hernia. This is where esophageal junction remains in position but the potion of stomach herniates through esophageal opening.
CAUSES

factors that increases abdominal pressure such as pregnancy, tumors obesity, tight underwear and continual heavy lifting.

PATHOPYSIOLOGY

When the muscles of the diaphragm becomes weakened,they will cause the stomach to herniate upwards to the lower opening of the thoracic cavity.
MANAGEMENT

Client must be encouraged to eat small, bland, and soft meals and also drink lots of water to relieve constipation of the stomach.

Client must always avoid bending or heavy lifting ad this will cause high pressure on the abdominal area

CLINICAL MANIFESTATIONS
a burning, gurgling, or aching sensation at the site of the bulge

weakness, pressure, or a feeling of heaviness in the abdomen
