ACTINIC CHELITIS
DEFINITION
A type of squamous cell skin cancer causing lip to be inflammed indicated by an ulcer which is painless.

SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS

Redness, swelling, white patches on the lips usually on the lower lip.

TREATMENT

Cryotherapy - Doctor freezes the AC patch and apply liquid nitrogen on it to allow affected skin to peel off.

PATHOPHYSIOLOGY
Long - term exposure to suns UV B - rays can damage lip cell DNA and result in abnormalities e.g. Ulcers.
