Defination
Indications
Ruptured tubal pregnancy.
Recurrent ectopic pregnacy.
Previous sterilization or revers of sterilization.
In case there is infection.
In case there is infertility.
Pre-operative nursing care
Salpingectomy is the surgical removal of one (unilateral) or both (bilateral) fallopian tubes. Fallopian tubes allow eggs to travel from the ovaries to the uterus.
This surgery can be done through a laparotomy or laparoscopy.
This surgery can be done alone or combined with the other procedure.

Address anxiety by clear explaining the procedure.
Clean the site, remove hair where incision will be made.
check vital signs and record them.
Obtain a signed consent.
Ask the patient about allergies regarding medication.
Keep the patient nil per mouth for about 6-8 hours before the surgery.
Make sure that the patient is comfortable, bowel and bladder is empty.
Post operative care
Check vital signs for every 15 min for the first hour and every 30 min for next 4 hours and then ever after 2 hours.
Observe the patient closely until is fully conscious.
Assess the bleeding in the operated site.
Administer analgesic as prescribed to control pain.
Monitor fluid intake and output.
Give relevant health education that will reduce risks of complications.
Encourage early mobilization to promote healing.
Provide a well balanced diet.
Encourage the patient to turn every after 2 hours to prevent skin breakdown.
Ensure that all false bodies are removed if there is any e.g false teeth,nose or arms.
