The organisation and influence of the medieval church - The Church and its leader, the Pope, had great power and influenced over almost every person in medieval society. By the middle of the 11th century, the Church was a well-organised hierarchy, reaching every level of medieval society. The church now has a lot of control over stuff like: Priest, Bishops, church courts, church, property and marriages and wills. Bishops also held the authority to excommunicate any Christian who did not follow Church law. The Church also provided many bene¬fits. Thing like an institution, a belief system, hope and a roof over their heads. Church established schools and universities, provided care for the poor and sick, and offered legal advice and other community services.
