How the colonies joined together
1899 Between April and July referendums are held in South Australia, NSW, Victoria and Tasmania they have a majority vote and everyone says yes to the bill
1899 In January the premiers have a secret meeting so they can change the rules of the constitution
1898 Referendums are held in New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania to approve to the referendum, they all agree to the referendum but NSW doesn't
1897 The second National Australasian convention joins in Adelaide Sydney and Melbourne, they all agree to federation
1896 A second people's conference in Bathurst New South Wales wants a new federation convention for the second people
1895 A special premiere's conference wants and agrees to hold another, new federation convention
1890 The Australian Federation Conference recommends a national convention so the colonies can vote for the commonwealth of Australia
Sir Henry Parkes of New South Wales wants the colonies to federate (IMPORTANT)
1891 The first National Australasian Convention is held in Sydney to decide of they should join as a colonies
1891 Economic depression starts happening it means the colonial parliaments lose interest in federation
1893 A conference in Corowa NSW wants the colonial parliaments to add an old convention instead of a new one so they can decide on a constitution
1899 In September Queensland voters endorse the new changes to the constitution
1900 In March a delegation travels to London to present the constitution to the British Parliament so they can accept it and then the federation becomes a thing
1900 On the 5th of July the British Parliament says yes to the commonwealth of Australia act
1900 On the 9th of July Queen Victoria signs the Commonwealth of Australia Constitution Act and accepts it
1900 On the 31st of July Western Australia holds another conference/vote/referendum to see if the people want the colonies to join. An overwhelming amount of people approve the constitution
1901 On 1st of January the Commonwealth of Australia is
1901 On the 29th and 30th of march the first Commonwealth elections are held
1901 On the 9th of May the Duke of Cornwall and york open the first parliament building for the commonwealth of Australia in the exhibition building in Melbourne
