- - - - Neurogenic shock is a haemodynamic event which can happen within 30 minutes of a spinal cord injury at the fifth thoracic vertebra or above. This injury results in vasodilation without compensation which can lead to pooling of blood within vessels resulting in impairment of cellular metabolism.
        
        Examples include severe pain, hypoglycaemia and injury
      - Anaphylactic shock is a allergic reaction to a particular substance which can be life-threatening. Vasodilation occurs causing respiratory distress and bronchospasm. Examples include vaccines, medications, food or food additives.
      - Septic shock occurs when a systemic inflammatory response is activated and infection is detected. Sepsis with hypotension can result in tissue hypoxia. Sepsis is caused by bacteria, parasites, fungi or viruses. Examples include pneumonia and indwelling lines and catheters.
