Militarism
When countries race to build up their armies, navies, weapons and strategies to defend against attack or to attack others.

By 1914, Hitler had nearly 100 warships and 2 million soldiers trained.
Imperialism

Hitler wanted the biggest and strongest empire in Europe, so he invaded many countries such as Poland.

Alliances

Alliances were created because miss trust began to grow between countries so some countries made a pact and agreed that they would support each other in case or war.
Alliances were a huge cause of ww1 because if one country got attacked, soon a whole continent may be in war as they have to defend or attack with their allianced countries.

But in the early 20th century, Germany started to build their up.

Life in the trenches WW1
They were built in zig zags to protect from straight shooting, wind and gas. Gave you hiding and protection.
