- give Nitroglycerin (fast acting) sublingual
releaves pain in 5 min
needs to be placed under tongue, if med is swallowed it will not make an effect

- call 911 if medicine doesn't work
- Give 2nd tab of drug & wait 5 min & give another one. After that you cannot give anymore sublingual tabs
- if none of these steps work, pt might be having myocardial infarction & you have to wait till ambulance comes or take them to hospital

needs to be given with special equipment, non-polyvinyl chloride tubing
