5 Types of Cytokines
- Interleukins
- TNFs = Tumor Necrosis Factors
- INFs = Interferons
- Interleukins
- Interleukins
-
*IL = Interleukins
IL - 10
- anti-inflammatory
- usually goes with IL-8, a strong chemotaxin to go against its effects
IL - 8
- strong chemotaxing for neutrophils and

IL-2
Notes:
- note that IL-2 is released exclusively by ONLY T-cell lymphocytes
- T = 2 --> IL-2 --> think "secondary T cell reaction"
- IL-2 is released from T cells after they have been activated by an antigen
- IL-2 is mainly for B cells proliferations
- but also important is the T cell proliferation and also Macrophages/NK cells
--> this is what is useful in cancer treatment with IL-2
-
HOT T Bone stEAK
- 1 = HOT =
--> IL 1 --> fever
- 2 = T = IL 2 --> T cell proliferation
- 3 = Bone = IL 3 --> B cell proliferation
- 4 = stEAk = IL 4 --> IgE (class witch from IgG)
- 5 = stEAk = IL 5 --> IgA / Eosinophil recruitment
--> atopy and allergic reactions
- 6 = stEAK = IL 6 --> aKKute phase prtoein production
--> atopy and allergic reactions
INFs = Interferons
- INF alpha, beta, gamma
- activate both innate and adaptive immune response to viruses
-
*Interferon Alpha and Beta
- made in ALL cells as a protection system against Double stranded RNA viruses ONLY
- released by human cells infected with a DS RNA virus
- very smart since the enzymes they release that degrade RNA are ONLY activate if there is DS RNA present in the cell
