Social and Behavioral Socialization Outcomes
Reading
Antisocial behavior includes any behavior that harms other people, such as aggression, violence, and crime.
Self-regulation refers to the ability to regulate one's impulses, behavior, and/or emotions until an appropriate time.
Prosocial behavior includes any behavior that benefits other people, such as altruism, sharing, and cooperation.
Morals encompass an individual's evaluation of what is right and wrong.
Morality involves feeling, reasoning, and behavior.
They involve acceptance of rules that govern one's behavior toward others.
One's moral code develops through social interaction and reflect one's level of intellectual development, as well as one's attitudes.
It involves awareness of alternatives, the ability to take another's perspective, and the ability to make judgements, as well as feelings about conformity and autonomy.
Influences on moral development are situational contexts and individual characteristics.
Fender roles, or sex types, are the qualities that individuals understand as characterizing males and females in their culture.
Males and females are born biologically different and consequently behave differently.
Socialization practices maximize gender differences; girls and boys are channeled into sex-typed behaviors valued by their culture.
Gender-role development is influenced by the family, the peer group, the school, the community, and the media.

Men and Women are different in general. One gender is not above the other.
Our brains are wired different.
Man and women may be created equal, be we are not the same.
Equality means that people should have equal opportunities; it doesn't mean that everybody is the same, or that we even want everybody to be the same.
We'd have everybody being identical, and wanting to do the same things and wanting to act in the same ways. It would be devastating to our culture. Difference is good.
Teach values and work together with your spouse.
Are you a good samaritan?
Celebrate differences. This world and life would be pretty boring otherwise.
Gospel Connections
The Family is being attacked more and more in today's society. Satan is telling the world one thing while we are teaching another.
Gender is being confused, roles are being repudiated, same-gender marriage is being promoted in the opposite direction of God's primary purposes, etc.
Not only is the family a basic unit of society, it is the basic unit of eternity.
The attacks on the family also undermine the value of life--particularly the life of the unborn.
Each year an estimated 46 million abortions take place worldwide.
Satan knows that the surest and most effective way to disrupt the Lord's work is to diminish the effectiveness of the family and the sanctity of the home.
A parent's prayer can make all the difference.
It is within the family that divine potential is best realized for both men and women.
"We all should be concerned about the society in which we live, a society which is like a moral Armageddon. I am concerned about its effects upon us."
Integrity is the quality or condition of being whole, complete, unbroken, and undivided.
Honesty is the quality or condition of being truthful, sincere, candid, and worthy of honor.
You and I must strive to become men and women of integrity and to be honest with God, honest with ourselves, and honest with other people.
Integrity and honesty with God result from knowing and understanding who He is and our relationship to and kinship with Him as our Eternal Father.
