Case Study 2: Teddy
Defiance
Grade 8 has proven particularly difficult for Teddy who has begun to verbally lash out at others. He has been noticed engaging others in arguments and conflicts. Additionally, in class, he sometimes refuses to do work with a strong verbal protest, unless it is work he likes. He has been more challenging to adults and figures of authority and withdrawing from his peers.

Other interventions and Data Tracking recommended: Tier 1 - PBIS Data TrackingI would use the Intervention General Tracking Form. In particular, I would also use the Card Flip Tracking form as it involves the parents as well as encourages the student to use regular self-assessment. The Daily Positive Behavior Tracking form is also a good choice.

Other interventions and Data Tracking recommended: Tier 3
At this stage, I would implement a Self-monitoring Assessment Sheet, School Counselor Referral Form, a Functional Assessment Checklist, and Parent Questionnaires.
-
Other interventions and Data Tracking recommended: Tier 2
If Rhonda's poor self-esteem continued and began to affect her academic experience negatively more and more, I would seek the use of Daily CICO Data Summary, PBIS Intervention Tracking form, a Student self-assessment, and additionally would contact the rest of the pertinent academic team and Rhonda's family.

Other interventions and Data Tracking recommended: Tier 1
With any issue, I would use the General Tracking form. Additionally, for Teddy, I would implement Live School to track behavior points and rewards and a Daily Positive Behavior Tracking form
-
Other Interventions and Data Tracking Recommended: Tier 3
Continued treatment team meetings including the parents for the best steps for Teddy would be well-supported by use of a Behavior Specialist Referral form, Self Monitoring Assignment Sheet, and Student Self-Assessments.
-
Other interventions and Data Tracking Recommended: Tier 2
PBIS Behavior & Intervention Tracking form, School Counselor Referral form, Antecedent Behavior Consequence Log, Weekly Scatter Plot, Parent Questionnaire, Student Progress Self-Evaluation.

Poor Self-esteem
This year in grade 7, Rhonda has been isolating herself more and more in class. During collaboration and group projects, she rarely adds verbally. You noticed she doesn't socialize with any peers in the class and you haven't noticed her with friends outside. When she does respond when asked to, she responds with a self-deprecating statement and excuses herself from answering.
