SOCIAL INFLUENCES THAT AFFECT ADOLESCENT DEVELOPMENT
An example of positive impact from social media to teen might be the ability to influence students through campaigns that can be easily understood through social media. On the other hand, negative impact, such as high addiction to social media, could lead to less attention in schools.
Teenagers might stay up late at night due to the overuse of social media such as Instagram or Facebook. Therefore, this can lead to several disadvantageous effects, including poor eating habits, weakness, or even the inability to wake up in the morning.
Family has a strong influences on their children in goal making as well as finding their children identities. They help create activities that suit their children's interests and abilities which can help them feel proud and confident of themselves.
Family is the first relationship in our life. Parents are the role models for their children. They are also the supporters in all aspects and encourage the children to associate with good people.
Family environmental factors affect children's behaviors. For example, parents influence the dietary behavior of children, types of food they eat and their physical activities. Besides these, children also tend to learn and act like their parents as they see them as a role models.
We may have the same or similar interest in activities with our friends. This is the reason why adolescents usually stick together as a group. They can talk, exchange, and consult with people of the same age about the problems they are facing.
As we develop into the stage of adolescent, a majority of time is spent more with friends, sharing ideas or working together. There are also a development on thinking and emotions. We'll have our own ability to think in more complex ways, solve problems on our own, and how we view the world.
Develop a stronger relationship with friends.
For example, increase more time doing things/activities together with them and as we are in the same age, the opinions and ideas may be similar to each other. Moreover, our behavior can be influenced more by friends. We may seeking more independence and have more self-conscious.
These influences may have effects on teenagers' development in many ways, especially their identities, as they are factors that adolescents experience in their everyday life. However, we think that friends have the greatest influence because teenagers normally spend most of their time with friends since they are in the same age, opinions and engage in similar activities.
