Learning Support Staff advise teachers on the use of technology based on the individual students they support.
Learning Support Staff companion the assessment process for both teachers and students to assure a supportive environment for assessments.

The school's Learning Support Policies defines the responsibilities of both the Learning Support Staff and the teachers involved.
EXAMPLES:

The use of laptops for typing as an alternative to writing during assessments (for motor skill issues, visual impairment)
Nutritional permissions (eating during class, early release from class before lunch period)
Instructional differentiation (use of various media, group and independent work, verbal and visual student work submissions)

STEP 4: Formal Referral

Teacher(s), Learning Support staff and Principal discuss the concerns

After formal submission, additional information may be collected (nurse, case history, school records, external medical assessment)

STEP 5: Formal Screening
Should interventions not prove successful, a student may be on a an IEP for a maximum of six months before an external assessment will be required at the family's expense (see Step 6)

Learning Support staff will circulate the appropriate recommendations to teachers, principal and parents
