What is resiliency?
Allows individuals to bounce back and to recover from difficult experiences or chronic challenges in their lives.
Gives students the ability to deal with challenges and adapt to new or difficult circumstances in a positive, productive manner.

Incorporate lessons and activities that explicitly teach about, and educate students about resilience.
Choose a book, a video, film, activity or creative project that will give the students a practical idea as to how this skill might show in their daily life.
Book examples: Tight Times by Barbra Shook Hazen, Chester’s Way and Sheila Rae, the Brave by Kevin Henkes, Hatchet by Gary Paulsen
Encourage self-reflection through literary essays or small group discussion exercises that focus on heroic literary characters. This is an excellent way for students to reflect on resilience and the role it plays in life success
Hold students accountable for producing their own work, efforts from which they feel ownership and internal reward.
Educate and assure parents that supporting kids through failure builds resilience, which is one of the best developmental outcomes that they can give their children.
