Creating a Quality Slideshow Presentation
Slide Content
Content should only include
essential information
Limit # of Slides: 10-12 Slides / 15 min presentation
Follow the 5x5 rule: 5 bullet points with no more than 5 words per bullet point
Information should be clearly written :
No paragraphs
Use simple phrases
Use bullets provided
Slide title should not be in the bulleted text
Slide Design and Layout
Consistent design, content, and color scheme throughout
Layout should best represent the material
Use font size 18-point or larger
Consider sequential order of information
Limited transitions and animations
Tables and graphs simple and easy to read
Images directly relate to information presented
Avoid decorating; limit use of images and sounds
Questions and References
Only use direct quotes if: :
In text citations are offered
Quote stands alone; presenter explains it
Nothing else is on the slide (including images)
Quotation marks are used
All images and sources must have a citation
Ask teacher where citations should be posted
Often posted in the notes section of the last slide (concluding slide)

Speaker notes keep you on target (notes can be printed)
