The Revision Process
"What comes next?"
Read aloud to yourself.
You'd be surprised how easy it is to find errors just by reading your work aloud to yourself! After all, we learn to speak before we write.
Grammar checks!
Now is the time to review your grammar. This is usually easiest to do once you've read your paper aloud to yourself. If your grammar seems way off, don't get upset about it! Take the time to review what you know, and it's easy to look up the rest.
Peer reviews.
Remember to be open to your peers' comments! One of the best ways for you to improve as a writer is through feedback!
Don't just say "I liked your writing!"
Try starting with something like...
✦ "To me, this means..."
✦ "I was confused by..."
✦ "What did you mean by saying..."
✦ "Your argument sounds like..."
✦ "I understood this..."
✦ "Your main point seems like..."
✦ "I don't know why..."
Do a reverse outline.
A reverse outline helps you figure out if your paper is well organized, connects to your thesis, and create a conclusion!

Start with what ya got! Either a complete or partial draft. This allows you to review your organization thus far!
-
"Where do I start?"
For your thesis, intro, and conclusion...
If you haven't written any of these yet... don't worry about it! Sometimes it will be easier to write them once your draft is a little longer.
Sometimes it might be easier to write your thesis if you figure out the common question or theme that seems to come out of your paper.
-
"How do I..."
-
"...know what to change?
Use RADaR!

Delete...
unrelated ideas.
sentences that sound good but create problems.
unwanted repetition.
unnecessary details.

What is Revision?
Revision is when we look over our previous writing and make changes to it. These can include supporting more ideas, fixing errors, or updating information. Revision can be done at any stage in the writing process and can be done with the help of others!
