1920s advertising became a big business, big posters colour pages in newspapers and magazines, tried to overwhelm consumers with images of their brands in order to change their buying habits, by 1929 there were 618 radio stations and most of them carried adverts, by 1929 $2 billion a year was spent on advertising, 600,000 people were employed in the industry, helped to create a consumer society, encouraging people to buy new products, encouraging people to spend more on brand names, boosting the economy, more spending, increase in production, more jobs, more people had money to spend.
